Obituary for Paul Franks

Alfred “Paul” Franks, age 61, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 31, 2020 after battling ALS.

Paul was born on March 24, 1958 in Tupelo, Mississippi, to Al and June Franks.
Paul was a graduate of Kosciusko High School in 1976, and received a Bachelor’s degree in Bible from Magnolia Bible College in 1980. He married his bride of 42 years, Glenda Black Franks, on September 9, 1977. Paul was a member of the South Huntington Street Church of Christ.
Paul was a man of many talents and served in several different roles over the years including preaching for churches of Christ in Mendenhall, MS, Forest, MS, Ripley, MS, and Lake Charles, LA. He served as Student Recruiter and Director of Development for Magnolia Bible College, and was Director of Development for Sunnybrook Children’s Home. He also was an insurance agent for Alfa Insurance, an owner of several rental properties in Kosciusko, and the owner of Discount Fireworks for over 35 years. His last job was working with his parents and wife as the Assistant Editor for the Magnolia Messenger where he traveled all over the state promoting the Messenger.
Paul was in the Lion’s Club for over 30 years and served as the District Governor in 1995.
Paul was a private pilot and enjoyed many years of flying small planes with his father. He owned a motorhome most of his life and loved traveling with his wife. As a world traveler, he visited over 30 countries. He directed Christian youth camps for Sardis Lake Christian Camp in Sardis, MS, Camp Red Oak Springs in Newton, TX, and Camp Ruta in Moletai, Lithuania.
Paul was a loving husband, father, and “Papa”. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Huntington Street Church of Christ in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Burial will follow at the Parkway Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, February 2, from 1:00-3:00pm at Culpepper Funeral Home in Kosciusko and at the church on Monday, February 3, from 9:30-11:00am.

Paul is survived by; his wife Glenda, his mother June Franks, his daughters Megan Shepherd (Andrew) and Ashley Lambert (Rusty), his son Vincent Franks (Kori), his brothers Philip Franks (Tammy) and Stephen Franks (Lisa) and 5 grandchildren, Braylee, Sadie, Silas, Abel, Lucy.
Paul was preceded in death by his father Alfred "Al" Franks.
